Garbage, Trash, and Recycling

What can I throw away? When, where, can I get rid of the other crap? Do they pick it up?

Reuse, Regift, Recycle, and don't buy overpackaged goods in the first place:

Recyclable container

  • Paper - newspaper, magazines, catalogues, phone books, junk mail, cards, office paper, inserts, file folders, envelopes, paper bags, paper egg cartons, hard and soft cover books.
  • Plastic - All bottles, food tubs and lids, milk jugs, yogurt, shampoo, laundry detergent, etcetera, etc. with the recycle symbol number 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, or 7
  • Glass - Bottles and jars.
  • Metal - Food beverage containers, lids, caps, aluminum trays anf foil.

Dead Computers

  • Free drop-off at the bottle depot across the Halston.

Oil and Antifreeze

Paint - Solvents - Pesticides

  • Paint Care Depot - Mission Flats Landfill (Residential Only):
    No charge for up to 10 five gallon containers of household paints.

 

Important notes

  • Do not overfill - The lid must close completely.
  • Place containers 1m apart, with wheels against the curb, left corner of your driveway, and pointing towards the street.
  • Take it back in from the street by 7pm on collection day.
